Almost all 3D scanning processes have limitations. The practicality of scanning parts depends on surface finish and gloss level, line of sign, size and complexity. 3D Scanning to CAD
BDI Lab supports various companies with 3D scanning and reverse engineering services. Our scanners capture details down to 0.1mm volumetric accuracy and also in full colour. Our equipment is portable and allows us to scan on site with you or parts can be sent into our facility to be captured.

Using a wide range of CAD software allows us to take on the most challenging reverse engineering and sculptural CAD design challenges. These models can then be used to reproduce highly detailed parts by a number of production techniques. If you need NURBS data or you want to develop some specific geometry from your scan data we are very happy to help with that too. We are well versed in the techniques used to produce various modern and classic automotive parts. We can engineer bucks for panel forming, wax models for investment casting & design for 3D printing with sand, allowing low cost one off iterations.
