Going beyond the drawing board we use computational models to analyse and optimise our designs. The use of software allows us to save material, time and cost in the product development process. We can ensure parts will be up to the job before we even finish the design process and we do this with unprecedented accuracy.

Fluid dynamics & finite element analysis

Using the latest software tools we can simulate your entire product assembly and all the interactions between parts. We can analyse how much material is needed in specific areas and optimise parts for weight. We also have the ability to analyse fluid flow, we have done this around multiple blades and wing elements simultaneously leading to complete system optimisation.

APPLIED TECHNOLOGY

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a branch of fluid mechanics that uses numerical analysis and data structures to analyze and solve problems that involve fluid flows. The mathematical model varies in accordance with the content of the problem such as heat transfer, mass transfer, phase change, chemical reaction, etc. Moreover, the reliability of a CFD analysis highly depends on the whole structure of the process. The verification of the mathematical model is extremely important to create an accurate case for solving the problem. Besides, the determination of proper numerical methods to generate a path through the solution is as important as a mathematical model.

DIGITAL ARTISTRY

BDI Precision has exactly the right digital tools for the job, and we really know how to use them. We have tested hundreds of structure and generate dozens of wing profiles whilst developing industry leading products for some of the world leading product brands.

Finite element analysis (FEA) is a computerized method for predicting how a product reacts to real-world forces, vibration, heat, fluid flow, and other physical effects. Finite element analysis shows whether a product will break, wear out, or work the way it was designed. It is called analysis, but in the product development process, it is used to predict what is going to happen when the product is used. FEA works by breaking down a real object into a large number (thousands to hundreds of thousands) of finite elements, such as little cubes. Mathematical equations help predict the behavior of each element.

  • Using generative part design we can optimise autonomously.

  • Save cost in both the design and testing phase.

  • Reduce production costs by optimising material usage.

  • Save weight by reducing material usage.

  • Predict failure modes that can not be physically tested.

  • Understand flow characteristics without a wind tunnel.

  • Get more accurate results over a wide range of conditions.

  • Support legal documentation with proven calculations

  • Visualise a products performance to support merchandising.

WHY WORK WITH US?

Our technology solutions with save you time and money.

  • Our services is price more competitively than any other 3D scanning service in the south east.

  • We have a reactive team on standby and can turn your job around on the same day if needed.

  • All of our 3D scanning services are quoted as fixed price jobs.

  • Our team have developed techniques for 3D scanning delicate and complex objects over the last decade.

  • Customer satisfaction is a must at BDI Precision. If you are not satisfied we will keep working until you are.

  • Our equipment is fully portable so we can scan objects at location, alternatively you are always welcome at our offices.

  • We will provide you data in a useable sealed mesh format: .STL .OBJ .STEP .IGES or .X_T.

  • We can create NURBS models of any scan data to ensure the scan is easy for you to pick up and work with.

  • Our design team can make changes to your mesh data or start engineering parts directly if required.

  • if you already have scan data that needs cleaning up we are happy to take a look at that as well.
